Sacramento HMIS Data

The Center for Homeless Inquiries has teamed up with Code 4 Sacramento to provide a publicly available data on homelessness. These data come from the homeless management information system (HMIS) maintained by the Sacramento Continuum of Care. They include the services provided to individuals including emergency shelter stays and enrollments in other programs. Code4Sac has set up a site on GitHub with explanations of the data and tools to access it. Contact the Center for Homeless Inquiries if you have questions on how to use these data to create visualizations or for analyses.

2007-2019 HUD Point-in-Time Counts and Housing Inventory Counts

The most often used data on homelessness come from the annual point-in time counts conducted by every continuum of care and collated by HUD. At the same time CoCs submit inventories of the number of beds that they currently have available in emergency shelters, transitional housing, rapid re-housing, and permanent supportive housing programs. These excel files are the best way to analyze trends and make comparisons.
